At least Dave at the Garfield Ridge blog seems to think so:
"This show is crack."
"He explained how when he reached the last disk he immediately wanted to watch the rest of the season. I've been feeling the same way too after each episode. More, must have MORE!"
"I'm trying to think of another television show that has ever had this kind of run in quality in its first season, and I'm coming up blanks. Most shows simply start slowly, and build towards greatness. Battlestar Galactica is the first show I can remember starting out perfect and building from there."
I have to agree. I have never tried crack so I can't really go so far as to say I fully understand the analogy. To me, Battlestar Galactica is more like an egg McMuffin. I don't eat them very often because I can't get up early enough, but when I do finally get up early and happen to be driving by a McDonalds and I happen to remember that they are still serving breakfast, than holy crap is that egg McMuffin the best thing you have ever eaten. You savor it and you can't wait until you get to have your next one.
Ok... so maybe if I ate an egg McMuffin once a week, that would be more like BSG... but I think you get the picture. Bottom line, egg McMuffins kick ass and so does BSG.

i hate that this show ended up being laced with heroin. i wanted to hate it. i hated that the ship was different. that characters were gone. and when i heard they changed theme songs, well that was unforgiveable. but i can't get enough of this "reimagined" show. and get all giddy waiting on the next episode.

I had the advantage of never really "getting into" the old-school BSG. The only reason I took an interest in this one was because Ron Moore was involved and I totally dig what he did with Star Trek TNG and DS9. Glad to see he is still making magic!
