Listed below are links to weblogs that reference BSG 2.0 DVD release not so bad?:

I think it was a gutsy move. I personally am of the mind of "I am always willing to shell out cash for quality entertainment" (with a few notible exceptions). With BSG, it's been been more like "YOU COMPLETE ME!!! HERE!!! TAKE MY MONEY!!! WANT MORE!?!?!?"

I guess that the UK DVD release within the states clued Paramount into the fact that BSG fans are hungry for this stuff. And all things considered... the period of time between episode 2.10 and 2.11... plus the fact that sci fi cut out reruns really quickly. I don't think it was a bad idea. It would've been nice if the 2.0 set had more features (and a menu that wasn't so incredibly stupid), but considering the idea of a full season being $80... it feels like the better call. I would imagine that sales would be kinda slow to start with, but when the next set is available, it will probably pick up.

Now the question is whether or not paramount is going to do a full season 2 box set.

I think in a lot of ways, it was a smart move on the part of BSG to release the first half of season two while it's hot. Great way for new fans to catch up on the mythology--which, let's face it, is pretty dense. I was a bit annoyed that it wasn't the extended edition of Pegasus. But seriously, this one was not a lot of work for Universal what with commentaries already done. So, it's an no-brainer from that standpoint. NOw if they double dip, I may be upset....

Michael - Oh you KNOW they are going to double dip! :)

There is no doubt the fans are hungry for the content. The iTunes stuff is pretty rad too... Like I said in the post. I am changing my mind on the whole deal. The release ended up being much less annoying than I thought. My words were a tad reactionary and from what I have gathered reading various threads, the experience of having the 10 episodes of season 2 really worked out.

Although I thought I'd prefer a complete season, I really don't mind having a season cut up into more than one box set (I didn't mind it for Farscape)--it makes buying them much easier financially. My only beef is WHY did they call the first half of season 2 "2.0"?? That's the only thing that bugs me, lol! It should be "2.1." A minor complaint, but maaaan, it's just one of those things that annoys. ;-)

Cyberdelia - I really thought they should have called it "Season 1.5" because it is all of season one and half of season two!

I thought it was awesome to review the first 10 episodes before Jan. 6th. The only thing they could do it lower the price. If they came out with season 2 with all 20 episodes, it would not have been $80. It would of been, my guess, $50. Look at other DVD sets for sell. Not many go for over $50 because people will not buy them.

Clair

At first, I wasn't too keen on it, but the more I think about it, the more I'm tempted to get it.
