BSG picks up a Hugo nomination
Bigdumbobject pointed me to the Hugo noms... it looks like BSG gets on for dramatic presentation short form. They won it last year! Can they go two in a row?
- Battlestar Galactica: "Pegasus" (NBC Universal/British Sky Broadcasting; Directed by Michael Rymer; Written by Anne Cofell Saunders)
- Doctor Who: "The Empty Child" & "The Doctor Dances" (BBC Wales/BBC1; Directed by James Hawes; Written by Steven Moffat)
- Doctor Who: "Dalek" (BBC Wales/BBC1; Directed by Joe Ahearne; Written by Robert Shearman)
- Doctor Who: "Father's Day" (BBC Wales/BBC1; Directed by Joe Ahearne; Written by Paul Cornell)
- Jack-Jack Attack (Walt Disney Pictures/Pixar Animation; Written & Directed by Brad Bird)
- Lucas Back in Anger (Reductio Ad Absurdum Productions; Directed by Phil Raines; Written by Phil Raines and Ian Sorensen)
- Prix Victor Hugo Awards Ceremony (Opening Speech and Framing Device; Written and performed by Paul McAuley and Kim Newman; Directed by Mike & Debby Moir)
It is just me or is that one weird category of nominations?
And Pegasus? Honestly that was an OK episode, but I wouldn't call it the best of the season at all. Sometimes awards are just strange. I am really stoked to see Charles Stross nominated for Accelerando though. That is one of the best Scifi books I have ever read.

I loved Accelerando. Great book.

My vote would go to both parts of Lay Down Your Burdens, but if I had to choose one it would be part 2 for sure.

I will be forever annoyed over how BSG is completely ignored by other award ceremonies... just cause it's technically "sci fi"
As far as dramatic Presentation goes, I'd without hesitation chose one of the two "resurrection" episodes... because they simply are my favorite. For an episode where the action is simply the background for the story... what an intense couple of episodes.

Yes, the Ressurection eps as well (especially part I), although I don't know when the cut-off period for the Hugos was.
Pegasus, although a good ep, felt too rushed. I'm waiting for the extended edition on the DVD pack.
Given the choices, I would go with Dr. Who "Empty Child, Doctor Dances", although I'm not familiar with the last two.
IMO, Lay Down Your Burdens is no Kobol's Last Gleeming.

I hate it when I misspell words.
