I think giving away all of the mini-series for ownership may be going to far and something the network would be unwilling to do.
My vote would be to have a full length screening of the mini-series on SciFi in either the week or day leading up to the first ep of Season 3.
Including the last episode of Season 2 might not hurt either; I know I'd watch it again.

I think the IPod download is a good idea, but I like the logic behind the Blockbuster theme also. However, most people I know don't leave their homes for videos anymore, they go to Netflix...I would think a better idea would be to offer a code for a free spin of the mini-series from Netflix (actually I would make up a special DVD with the mini and 33...the mini was great but 33 really hooks you in). Netflix would be getting in touch with more people...a free trial on how the system works...and SciFi could track the number of recipients. They could broadcast the program with TV Guide (like they did with the free itunes offer for 'Downloaded'). Just my two cents.
